Apple tarts

Ingredients

Prep: 10 mins, plus 10 mins refrigeration.
Cooking: 20 mins.
Makes 6

2 sheets frozen butter puff pastry, cut into 6 (12cm) rounds
2 golden delicious apples, peeled,quartered, cored, quarters cut into
5 lengthwise slices
A few pinches ground cinnamon
1 egg, beaten with 3 teaspoons milk
1 tablespoon demerara sugar
Thick cream, to serve 
 

Method

1. Preheat oven to 190°C (170°C fan). Line a baking sheet with baking paper.

2. Place pastry rounds on baking sheet and refrigerate for 10 minutes. Arrange apple on pastry rounds, leaving a 2-3cm border. Sprinkle apple with cinnamon. Fold pastry over, brush with egg wash. Sprinkle with sugar.

3. Bake for 20 minutes, or until apple is tender and pastry is puffed and golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before serving, hot or warm, with cream.
