Architect Rachel Feldhusen loves to manipulate space, materials and light. Her fresh approach to architecture is cleverly reflected in the decor of her bright and airy Perth townhouse.
Decorating style: Layering is important to me. I like to start with a subtle background and build a look with gorgeous textures, colours and prints.
Art: This work is by Stewart Russell from Spacecraft in Melbourne. It’s made from the backing-cloth of a print table, which has been overlaid with lots of sheer textiles. I think it ties in well with the bright red in the Flensted mobile from Denmark.
Sofa: I had it custom-made to be a bit deeper than normal.
Cushions: Also from Spacecraft, they work back with the artwork and other linens in my home created by the same designer.
Coffee table: This is a small space, so the tapered edge of The Table & Chair Company table makes moving around much easier!
Side table: Eileen Gray designed this table in 1927. It’s a classic piece that complements the rest of the furniture and accessories.
Lighting: The Mercer lamp is by Marset. I love that it’s made from fabric encased in glass. Its light reflects beautifully on the glass and chromed-steel side table and casts shadows with the mobile.
